![]() Laszlo Spiro works with new ideas and new musical material, which lead from the combination of jazz and classical music in the direction of the reinte- gration of functional har- mony. In this respect he developed on the basis of his preoccupation with Olivier Messiaen as well as with Byzantine culture and parti- cularly Bulgarian music, his own harmonic system with floating chords. Through these sounds he wishes to create composi- tions using new methods of notation. As jazz-musician he has all the requirements, through his study of classical music, to arrive at new horizons, which can be seen as a counterbalance to the tendency in musical history to mix classical music with jazz elements.
